Example 1 – ‘Clocked’ Vehicle

We investigated History Reports from a number of sources, and found several anomalies that also suggested the odometer reading was incorrect.

While the service history provided with the vehicle tallied with the figure of 99,110 km, this service history had not been compiled by a main dealership or a SIMI garage. We suspected it had just been created to suit the figure displayed.

We checked further with vehicle history companies and established that the mileage displayed was indeed incorrect.

The customer was informed of our findings. We advised them that if they wished to proceed to make an offer on the car, it should be significantly lower than the asking price, on the basis that the car had a much higher mileage than indicated.
